Lisa Marie Presley left behind a family legacy at her death.
Most people live their lives in relative obscurity.
Others are household names from the time of their birth.
The latter was true of Lisa Marie Presley.
According to a recent NME article titled “Lisa Marie Presley’s children to inherit Graceland estate,” being the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley made her a child of fame.
When her father Elvis died, she became the sole heir to his estate.
Although Lisa Marie Presley was only nine when the estate passed to her in a trust, the trust dissolved in 1993 when when she turned 25.
The inheritance included the Graceland mansion and the 13 acres surrounding it.
While Lisa Marie Presley was still a minor, the home of Elvis became a public museum in tribute to her father.
Every year, some 650,000 visitors tour the property.
The Graceland property is estimated to be worth nearly $500 million.
Lisa Marie Presley wanted to keep the home in the Presley family.
When she died on January 12 from cardiac arrest in Calabasas, California, she had a plan in place to do just that.
Dying herself at age 54, Lisa Marie Presley was no stranger to tragedy.
She lost her parents at a young age and also lost her son Ben to suicide in 2020.
Presley left Graceland to her surviving children – daughters Riley Keough, age 33, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, age 14.
Many celebrity friends expressed their condolences, including Nicholas Cage, Austin Butler, John Travolta, and the Michael Jackson Estate.
Rather than flowers, the family requested donations be made to The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation in honor of Lisa Marie Presley.
